Healing is not the same as being discharged
Hospitals send people home earlier than they used to, which is generally good medicine — recovery is faster in your own bed. What it also means is that the weeks where infection, clots and medication errors are most likely now happen in a house with no clinician in it. We put one there on a schedule, so problems get caught while they are still small.

Yes, and it is the better way to do it. Tell us the discharge date and we will have a nurse at the house the day you get home rather than several days later.
Directly. Your care plan follows your surgeon's post-operative instructions, and findings from our visits are reported back to them between your follow-up appointments.
It depends on the procedure and how you heal, and the plan is reviewed as you progress. Most post-surgical care steps down gradually rather than stopping on a fixed date.
